Darby’s Dancers: Finding Joy in Movement
Darby’s Dancers offers children with special needs a vibrant world of dance and expression. Through weekly classes exploring ballet, jazz, musical theater, and lyrical styles, our dancers build confidence, strength, and coordination while fostering lifelong friendships. Each year culminates in a magical spring recital where they share their talents with the world, performing alongside other dancers in a choreographed showcase.
Our Coaches: More Than Teachers
Our youth volunteers, or Coaches, do more than just teach dance steps. By providing one-on-one support to each Darby’s Dancer, they foster responsibility, friendship, and invaluable life skills. While a lead teacher provides overall guidance, our Coaches are the hands-on support system, working closely with their assigned dancer to help them learn, grow, and thrive.
Our Partnership: A Community Effort
Darby’s Dancers National collaborates with local dance studios to provide a welcoming space for our dancers to learn and shine. Through dedicated partnerships, we offer performance opportunities that celebrate the talents of every dancer.
Fredericksburg Ballet Centre actively searches for grants so we are able to provide everything our dancers need, free of charge. From dance attire to shoes to show tickets, we ensure that every dancer can fully participate in this transformative experience.
Darby’s Dancers is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing the joy of the performing arts to as many children and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities as possible.
